In the Summer - Taha Hussein

It is wonderful for one to find a time when their soul flourishes, and their thoughts and memories become pleasant, a time when they sit with themselves and for themselves, conversing honestly and reproaching themselves for what they neglected and what life's events and successive struggles have brought upon them, receiving no attention from themselves. Such moments stir a myriad of feelings within the soul, sometimes instilling hope, and other times despair and gloom. The Dean of Arabic Literature, Taha Hussein, found himself in the expansive space of summer, a companion to several thoughts that accompanied him during his travels to France. There, the clear sky, the cool air, and the strange and new aspects of life converged for him, prompting him to share his thoughts, some of which he loved, and others he disliked. Nevertheless, they overflow with warm emotions, keen sensitivity, and great benefit.
