Taha Hussein believed that a writer has a reformist and enlightening role in addition to their cultural responsibility towards society. Therefore, he wrote many articles and books in which he called for reforming some aspects of our society and developing its systems, especially the family system, which he saw as essential to develop. This requires a radical change in our view of women within the family institution. He also believed that the only way to a healthy family is through expanding education and spreading the spirit of justice among its members without bias, and not by the Ministry of Social Affairs establishing a school for graduating wives or husbands—as some suggested.
