My call was on a white window, on a screen overlooking the darkness, from which no one could see, like a broken well; its bottom was my refuge. I sat there hoping, waiting, anticipating the buckets' descent; and waiting for their owners to gather around the well's mouth.
The buckets will collide as they land, showering me with questions whose questioners I don't know. We were alike in that darkness, equal in the depths of the maze. Strange is the familiarity of the confused, absurd and reassuring.
From the bottom of the well, I answered more than a thousand questions. I answered questions born in silent labor. I read them repeatedly, and they borrowed my voice and became my questions. Fluctuating questions, the result of which was a fragmented dialogue that defies discipline, resembling the racing thoughts of a mind yearning for calm... and refusing to be still.
