Wells, best known for his books The War of the Worlds, The Invisible Man, The Time Machine, and The Island of Dr. Moreau, presents
The eight short stories in this book, a mix of fantasy and science fiction, provide a quick read of wonderful stories, dark in one way and hopeful in the other.
Every story makes you wonder about something, or weaves new stories from it.
Wells is a master at writing the wonderful short story, and what is even more impressive is his understanding of the world and his ability to see into the future.
"The Door in the Wall" addresses the responsibility for happiness while "Dream of Armageddon" does the opposite, telling the star of an impending natural disaster with a real twist at the end.
"The Land of the Blind" was about a mountaineer who had a bad fall and ended up in the Valley of the Blind, where everyone was blind and isolated from the rest of the world. He thought he could be a leader for these people because he could see. He ended up fighting with these people. The blind saw the world through their own perception, and they thought the man was a fool because of the stories he told about being able to see.
