Overnight in 1942, Frenchwoman Eve Troupp found her name, and the names of her mother and father, on the Nazi arrest lists. Overnight, she found herself a stranger in France, a France that the enemy had taken control of, aided by French traitors, making her a homeless fugitive in her own country. From the heart of humanity's darkest periods, we meet Eve, a lover of books and drawing, who somehow became a member of a resistance movement in which women, as well as men, worked to liberate France. However, her resistance was non-violent, without direct confrontation with the enemy. This is a true story whose idea the author Kristin Harmel was inspired by an article she read in the New York Times: the looting of books from French public and private libraries by Nazi Germany shortly before the end of World War II and the defeat of Nazi Germany
