Peter Pan, or The Boy Who Never Grows Up, was first published in 1904. Parrie wrote it in memory of his brother, who died in a skiing accident before he turned fourteen, and whose mother saw him as a boy forever.
Peter has since become an icon of youth and innocence, which is why James Matthew Barrie commissioned the sculptor George Framton to create a statue of Peter, which was erected at night in Kingston Gardens, as a surprise for London children on the May Day holidays, for the boy who did not know the pyramid in any other way.
The country Peter comes from is the land of dreams, Neverland, from which we all came once, and which we forgot the moment we stopped believing in dreams and gene dust and in our ability to fly high.
The Journey with Peter Pan gives us the opportunity, once again, to return to that island where there are no boring distances between adventures, and where it becomes very real two minutes before you go to sleep.
