Al-Kafiya for those with interest in knowing the words of the Arabs, or Al-Kafiya Al-Hajibiyya, or Al-Kafiya by Ibn Al-Hajib, is a concise book on Arabic grammar, including the basic rules of grammar. Its author is Ibn Al-Hajib, who died in 646 AH. Scholars paid great attention to Al-Kafiya, writing commentaries and parsings for it. It was even translated into other languages, and copies of it spread throughout the world. Brockelmann said in Al-Kafiya, “And its manuscripts are in almost every library in the world.” Among those who paid attention to Al-Kafiya was Muhammad ibn Sulayman ibn Sa`d, so much so that he was attributed to Al-Kafiya and thus came to be called Al-Kafiji.
