In those distant years to which we flee, thirsting for a bygone history and colorful days whose remnants we saw in black and white, we follow the Sayed family from the reign of King Farouk until after the revolution overthrew the monarchy.

We live with the novel's heroes through warm years in Port Said, whose tranquility is quickly eroded by the aggression. We then travel to Cairo for exciting years, with days woven with dreams and fate's surprises, with heroes weaving the present from their memories and unprecedented visions, some of which carry hope, and many of which carry fear of what is to come.

Surprises will follow, so we realize that the future of generations is nothing but a legacy of anticipation for safe years fraught with dangers.
