2022 Ana Soft Litra Award Shortlist

In poetic language, Slovakian author Jana podnarova presents pages from the memoirs of a couple who separated after a marriage brimming with plans and dreams. Ona and Andrei Ota are emotional anesthesiologists in the maternity ward who struggle to cope with the details of reality, while Andrei is a rational radiologist who believes he has a clear picture of everything.

The couple separates after the death of their two adopted daughters, who were the center of their lives. We reminisce with them about the girls' childhoods, and their short lives tell us that the traumas experienced in childhood are not indelible, and remain with them until they turn into a major crisis that leaves its scars.

Jana Bodnarová: A Slovak writer born in 1950, she studied fine arts and has published forty books for adults and children. She has received numerous awards, including the prestigious Maria Duričková Prize for her entire body of work for children, and the Academy of Letters Prize for her novel "The Necklace" in 2016. Her works have been translated into many languages, including Chinese, Portuguese, and Arabic. She has also participated in the production of several films that have been shown in
