Every person has a defining moment that affects the course of their life. Maybe that moment was the moment of marriage, maybe it was the moment of having children, and maybe for others it was the moment of achieving their dreams and reaching their desired goals. But my life reached that moment and changed completely on the day my parents sold me and presented me into slavery. I was eight years old in a small town in Egypt near Alexandria Governorate. Before that fateful day, I was an ordinary child who belonged to a large family.

According to the International Labour Organization, there are more than 40 million victims of modern slavery worldwide, in addition to nearly 150 million children who are victims of child labor below the legal working age, representing one in ten children worldwide.

This applies equally to all countries, rich and poor, according to the organization's assertions, which stated that more than 400,000 people in the United States live in "modern slavery," and another 150,000 live in Britain.
