Hamlet is a tragic play, considered one of the world's classic masterpieces. It embodies the tragedy of fraternal bonds being torn apart in order to ascend the royal throne. In this play, Shakespeare relied on the element of paradox, manifested in the character of Hamlet, the play's hero. He combined the person who loves his beloved Ophelia with the person who revolts against the blood of his father, who was assassinated by the sword of his brother, Claudius, Ophelia's father. Shakespeare built his play on two pillars: one is a narrative prose, and the other is a dialogue play. He also relied on the symbolic element, as manifested in his use of the willow tree that Ophelia climbs, to hang a crown of flowers on one of its branches, commemorating her father, who was killed by Hamlet. Shakespeare chose this tree specifically for its sad connotations.
