There is no doubt that "The Prophet" is the jewel in Gibran Khalil Gibran's collection, the culmination of his personal experiences and outlook on life. He encompasses all his views on life and death, food and drink, love and marriage, and more. Therefore, Gibran considered it his "second birth," which he had been waiting for a thousand years. Gibran narrates his views through the tongue of the wise man, "Mustafa," who had been away from his homeland for twelve years, living among the inhabitants of the island of Orphalese as one of them, awaiting his return to his birthplace. When the ship docked and the time came for his departure, the islanders asked him to deliver a sermon to them. This was his farewell sermon, in which he summarized his doctrine. In his book, Gibran succeeded in transcending the boundaries of his religion, establishing the foundations of a humanism that respects humans as humans, not for any other factor.
