Mukhtar al-Sahah was written by Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr ibn Abd al-Qadir al-Razi. He abridged it from Taj al-Lugha wa Sihah al-Arabiya, maintaining the traditional entry order, meaning starting with the last letters of the words. The Mukhtar al-Sahah dictionary is distinguished by its frequent references to weak, poor, and Arabized words, its mention of rare and antonymous words, and its attention to morphological aspects such as derivation, substitution, and elision.
