Hieroglyphic Torah

Author's name: Fouad Hassanein Ali

The path I have taken, which has led me to conclude that the Torah of Moses is hieroglyphic in origin and not Hebrew, has never been taken before. My tools for this journey are two-pronged: linguistic and theological. Linguistic study involves a thorough understanding of the languages of the peoples of the Arabian Peninsula—the Arabic or Semitic languages. Hebrew, on the other hand, was never known by this name in the Torah, the Prophets, or the scriptures. Rather, it came to us under the name Canaanite or Jewish. The Hebrews claimed that their language was the language of the Torah and the language spoken by Moses. The Israelites themselves were not known as Hebrews as a people and did not speak Hebrew until after settling in Canaan and mixing with the Canaanites. Before that, they spoke the language of their host peoples. The Israelites in Egypt undoubtedly spoke Egyptian, as did other peoples who lived under Egyptian rule. Knowing that Moses was born and raised in Egypt, was educated in Egyptian culture, and rose through the ranks of the military until, as the Jewish historian Josephus Flavius tells us, he became an officer in the Egyptian army. He only left with those who left for Sinai, which was then an Egyptian province, to continue his Egyptian life away from the tyranny of the Pharaoh. Moses never saw Palestine and died more than a century before Hebrew emerged, so his language was undoubtedly ancient Egyptian. This is further evidence that the Torah of Moses, which paid great attention to Judaism and welcomed it, was not written in the Hebrew spoken by the Israelites after their exodus to Canaan—that is, long after Moses' death. I have carefully presented and analyzed these factors in this book, with the goal of correcting a widespread error intended to promote Hebrew as a sacred language, in which the Law was revealed and in which most of the books of the prophets and scriptures were written. The Torah, then, was written in ancient Egyptian, not Hebrew.
