From this incident, Icelandic writer Lilja Sigurdóttir begins to delve into the inner workings of her characters, to document not only the suspicious kidnapping incident that the heroine of her novel was subjected to, but also to a broader space to raise questions related to deeper concepts such as family and the relationship between spouses. The writer also managed to convey the feelings of her characters of fear, terror, love and selfishness, simply and through a breathless language that makes the reader want to discover more as if they were one of the heroes of this astonishing novel.
