In the introduction to this book, Mohamed El-Fouly says: "Although I no longer believe in the necessity of classification, I will satisfy its fans. I will free myself from previous classifications by launching a new one for this book. I will call it 'A Translation Biography,' because it addresses translation and its intersections with my life, both humanly and professionally."
I will write this biography freely and without restrictions—as writing should always be—especially if it concerns such a deeply private experience.
When I describe it this way, I don’t mean that I am special, but rather that it is simply a very special experience, as I believe that it is the first time that a book has been published in the Arabic language about translation, and its author is not a university professor with a distinguished career. It is also the first time that a book has dealt with our beautiful craft from a perspective far removed from purely academic theory, and its character can be described as practical.
And human and vital. So, the whole thing is new, and worth trying, or at least the effort of trying.
