Through his latest novel, “#Maquette of Cairo” (Dar Al-Mutawasit - First Edition 2021), which is included in the “Booker” longlist... he put us in front of the question by limiting his focus to the main characters, so that the point of reception is limited to fantasy characters that reflect, like mirrors, a single question: “Is Cairo a city that chose its characters and thus its destiny? Or did the characters choose to express their destinies through choosing the city?” We are faced with a text teeming with social scenes and isolated from the traditional internal structure.
