Author's name: Will and Ariel Durant

The author of this book is the well-known American writer and historian William James Durant. He received a doctorate in philosophy, worked as a professor at Columbia University for one year, then turned to giving free lectures on philosophy and literature in the church, and after these lectures he wrote his most famous books: (The Story of Philosophy) and (The Story of Civilization).
In his book (Lessons of History), he compiled the lessons he learned from his forty-year journey through the civilizations of the East and West to write his monumental encyclopedia (The Story of Civilization). These lessons relate to several aspects, such as the relationship of history to the land, races, morals, economics, and governments.
The book we have before us today aims to read China as a civilization, history, culture, races and arts, in the same style as in everything he wrote, where his ability to express his intention is evident in a concise and tactful expression, and his good choice is very apparent in the poetic texts.
Of course, the reader should not lose sight of the authority of Western centrism from which the writer proceeds, which sometimes appeared in some of his judgments.
