I said in my book “A Life in Administration”: “There were, from time to time, tasks that took the minister away from the whirl of daily routine work. The most prominent of these tasks was accompanying the King and the Crown Prince on official visits, accompanying heads of state who visited the Kingdom, and contributing to various conferences.”
During my work at the Ministry of Industry, Electricity and Health, I was assigned a large number of these tasks. This book contains chapters that contain my personal impressions of a number of heads of state and government whom I had the opportunity to see closely during their visits to the Kingdom. I was keen to keep the impressions as I first recorded them, many years ago, without attempting to correct or amend what I wrote in light of subsequent developments.
