This book contains a fragrance and a scent, of news and passionate feelings, about the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, to which hearts yearn, and it is the journey of the scholar “Abu Al-Diya’ Muhammad Jamal Al-Din Al-Qasimi Al-Dimashqi”, one of the pillars of reform in the last century.
He wrote it with a spirit of love and longing for that blessed place; he expressed his visit to it when he arrived with the fragrance of his tears, and when he settled in his room inside Al-Aqsa, in the Qibli area, towards his right pulpit, he rejoiced in this place and wept with joy, and prostrated to God in gratitude for this blessing; for his aim from this journey was to stay and pray in this blessed mosque, and he composed something of his intimacy with Al-Aqsa Mosque.
When he left the Al-Aqsa Mosque, he bid it farewell with what he had begun with. As for the journey in general, the scholar Al-Qasimi recorded everything he experienced. At the beginning of his journey, he conveyed some of the history and geography of Amman from ancient and some modern sources. During this time, he mentions in general terms the castles, fortresses, walls, columns, the beauty of nature and the goodness of its landscapes, as well as the state of urban development and its progress. He also mentions some commercial resources and the conditions of the people he encountered. He praises the state of those he met from among the people of knowledge and virtue and describes some of their conditions, as you see in his description of the Circassians in Amman, where he mentioned some of their customs and noble morals. He also mentions the warm welcome he received when he entered the Al-Aqsa Mosque in the place where he stayed, and when he left Jerusalem and was bid farewell by the righteous people of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and the good people of Jerusalem. When he arrived in the town of Jaffa, he stayed with its Mufti, the learned Sheikh Ali Effendi Abi Al-Mawaheb Al-Dajani.
