Ladies of the Five Senses

The novel "Ladies of the Five Senses" consists of six chapters, each built around the story of a woman whom the protagonist knows through one of the human senses. It tells the story of Siraj Eddin, a visual artist born with six senses exceeding their natural limit, and how he was harmed by the corruption practiced by a class of politicians. Siraj holds a grudge against Suleiman Al-Taleh, the embodiment of corruption in this novel, who robbed his nation's pocket. Siraj emigrates to America, arriving on the morning of September 11th, and leaves on the day he witnessed the Tunisian Bouazizi setting himself on fire. Over those years, he transformed into a wealthy man and, in Oman, he builds a strange palace parallel to Al-Taleh's palace. Since Siraj's return to Oman, a number of women have disappeared under mysterious circumstances, and fear spreads among the people, causing the streets to be devoid of women. Through the character of Siraj, the novel monitors the transformations that have affected Arab individuals and places recently.
