Nizar Qabbani

"Nizar Qabbani wrote much of what the kingdom of poetry and language bestowed upon him and us. He was loyal to himself, and to himself alone, in everything he wrote, becoming a free, masterful, prolific poet in more than one field. On the occasion of the hundredth anniversary of his birth, we honor his memory by publishing three poetry collections of his selected poems, categorized by theme.
In this collection, introduced by the Arab singing star Kazem Al-Saher, we examine what Nizar expressed in poetry and what the Arab world later echoed in song. This is one of the most important features of Nizar's experience, as he stripped poetry of its exclusivity, elitism, and sometimes even its alienation, spreading it through his poems that were sung and eagerly embraced by all speakers of the Arabic language, regardless of their cultural backgrounds, intellectual levels, and age groups."
