In the novel "A Fairy Tale," the reader follows Charlie Reed, a seventeen-year-old boy, a high school student and athlete who plays football and baseball, hoping his skills will help him earn a college scholarship. He is also a responsible person, taking responsibility for himself and for his father, who fell into the depths of addiction after his wife was killed by a truck one day. As he passed by a large house on top of a hill, he heard a loud barking. It wasn't just an ordinary barking; it was more of a cry for help. When Charlie entered the house, he saw that its elderly owner had fallen down the stairs and broken his leg. He helped him. Over time, the old man grew to trust him and became close to him. When he died, he bequeathed everything he owned to him. But there was something special about this house. In the backyard, there was a warehouse from which strange noises were coming. When Charlie asked the old man about these noises, he told him that he would tell him when the time was right. The right time came after Charlie's death, as he left him a tape recording in which he told him a story no one could believe, and he also left him a key. It's a story about a vast, deserted city, but it's alive. Its streets are empty, its buildings are haunted, its people are gray, and in the sky are two moons, always hidden by clouds. Its rabbits are giant, its cockroaches the size of cats, and its sundial, which, if you sit on it, you either regain your youth or grow old. It's guarded by a giantess named Hannah. Where is this city located? Why are its people gray? Why are its animals and insects so large? Why do two moons roam its skies? And what does any of this have to do with Bowditch and Charlie?
