Among the most proficient authors is the scholar and authority Muhammad ibn Nasr al-Marwazi, born in 202 AH and died in 294 AH, may Allah have mercy on him. A blessed number of his works have been printed, including “Kitab as-Sunnah,” which is well-known among scholars, past and present. Imam al-Bukhari, may Allah have mercy on him, included a trace of Ibn Awn in his book “Al-I’tisam bil-Kitab wa al-Sunnah” in his Sahih (13/248). This trace was mentioned in al-Marwazi’s book “as-Sunnah” by al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar in his book “Fath al-Bari” (13/251-252), and by al-Ayni in “Umdat al-Qari” (25/26). In “Taghliq al-Ta’liq” (5/319), Ibn Hajar included it with his chain of transmission on the authority of Muhammad ibn Nasr al-Marwazi. Al-Marwazi, may Allah have mercy on him, often refers to his works in the book and refers to them (see: p. 93 of Kitab as-Sunnah). Al-Marwazi, may God have mercy on him, cites his narrations with chains of transmission from his sheikhs, who number around thirty sheikhs in this book. They are among his sheikhs in some of his published books. In fact, some of the narrations, both in chains of transmission and text, are in this book and in his other books. See “As-Sunnah” p. 49, no. 156, and “Ta’zim Qadr As-Salah” 1/95, hadith 11. Therefore, there is consensus on the attribution of this book to Al-Marwazi, and the reader will not sense any trace or trace that undermines this consensus.
