A new novel by the writer Jawhara Al-Rimal has been released, titled “Al-Awsaj,” a striking and attractive title, referring to the thorn tree, which, according to legend, is a tree under which a tribe of jinn live. In some Arab countries, it is called the “devil tree.” It may remain just a legend and has no connection to reality, but it has been employed in a way that serves the idea of ​​the novel. The novel “Al-Awsaj” differs from the style of the writer Jawhara Al-Rimal’s previous publications. The hero of the novel is a man, Gibran, who has been afflicted with a curse that has left him insomniac, pushing him each time to choose a victim to kill in order to enjoy a peaceful sleep for months. The first victim is his mother, until Kamad, a jinn from the Ghilan tribe, known for its sovereignty and strength, appears and guides him to the thorn tree to free him from this curse.
