This book is a serious attempt to find a key that facilitates the interpretation of the four Qur’anic verses from Surat Ash-Shu’ara’, which mention poets among those followed by those who are astray, and to understand their content.

Do the verses embody clear hostility toward all poetry and poets, or do they specifically address specific poets? The author reviews the Qur'an's stance on poetry and poets, concluding that Islam's stance was not characterized by hostility or opposition toward poetry as such or poets as such. Rather, the verses specifically address pagan poetry by pagan poets who satirized the Prophet and fought the Islamic call in word and deed.
