How to Deal with Jerks at Work

Let's start directly with the purpose of this book: The world is full of bad bosses and managers—team leaders, group leaders, division managers, unit managers, vice presidents, department directors, and department heads. Sometimes the boss is the chairman of a Fortune 500 company; sometimes the boss is the head of a local sports team. At all levels of companies of all kinds, there are those who, out of naivety and incompetence, have mistakenly ended up as the boss and caused problems for themselves and their team. There are overly nice bosses, and there are downright nasty ones. Some bosses can't even learn their employees' full names, some shirk their responsibilities, and some are so incompetent that the company would actually be better off without them. There are even superfluous bosses who are not really needed, as most employees can manage better without them. They do not add anything at all, except for causing headaches and stress to the workers.
