Money remains one of the most thought-provoking, emotionally charged, and contentious topics in the world. Dozens of books, articles, blog posts, and speeches have been written about what money is, how it is earned and spent, who has it and who doesn't, and many other topics. Yet, despite the constant focus on the topic, there is one word that describes the average person's view of money: confusion.

Despite some truly great research published on the subject, there is a lot of misinformation—what we might call financial white noise—that most people rely on chance to make their fortunes, or ignore the subject entirely. This is not only unfortunate but tragic, because of the untapped human potential that will never be unlocked when people leave their lives to chance, or worse, give up on their dreams. It is also deeply unfortunate because the secrets of money, how to earn it, invest it, and spend it, are well known.

Indeed, there is such a thing as "the science of finance," similar to the sciences of nutrition, anatomy, astronomy, chemistry, and engineering. This science of finance has been tested and proven time and again, not just over years or decades, but over a thousand years. And while new theories in finance may emerge all the time—just as we have new theories for curing cancer or baldness—the discipline of this science and its rules for testing and verifying results will quickly move these ideas from the realm of theory to one of two categories: the first, a verifiable fact, which Brian calls a law; the second, an idea that has been proven false, which Brian calls a myth.

In this book, we will cover both categories: proven laws of money that can be trusted as much as you can trust the sun to rise in the east; and money myths. Myths can include ideas that may have no basis in reality but can persist as rumors; ideas that were claimed to be true but, when tested, were disproven—or, at best, unproven.

Ultimately, we have one central goal: to definitively end the confusion on this subject and present the essential facts about money in one comprehensive package. Then, if you simply study the ideas presented to you here and apply them to your life and business, you will become financially successful as surely as the sun will rise tomorrow.
