What to expect when you are pregnant

First, I found out I was pregnant. It was a "surprise" pregnancy; I married Eric, and just three months later, suddenly, I was pregnant. I was pregnant and clueless about everything. I didn't know what it would be like to be pregnant (beyond basic biology—I knew about that, but I was pretty sure I wouldn't be able to have children) and I didn't know what to do next. So I looked to books (the only resources we had in those days before search engines) for answers to my questions, reassurance for my fears. I needed a hand to hold, a shoulder to cry on, a voice to comfort and encourage me through the exciting, yet confusing, pregnancy journey Eric and I were about to embark on. I read and read, but I couldn't find what we both desperately needed to know: What to expect while you're expecting your baby? So, I started writing and wrote the foreword to this book just two hours before I went into labor with the little girl who inspired it all.
