Al-Nasafi's Interpretation - The Perspectives of Revelation and the Realities of Interpretation

It is a concise and useful commentary, abridged by al-Nasafi (d. 710 AH) from al-Baydawi's commentary and al-Zamakhshari's al-Kashshaf. As the author states, it is "a middle-ground book in interpretations, encompassing various aspects of grammar and variant readings, including subtle points of rhetoric and allusion, adhering to the sayings of the six canonical scholars, and free from the falsehoods of heretics and those who have gone astray. It is neither excessively long nor deficiently short."
Al-Nasafi does not delve into grammatical issues except gently, and he adheres to the seven canonical readings, attributing each reading to its reciter. He briefly presents the schools of jurisprudence when interpreting verses related to legal rulings, and he explains the opinions without elaboration. He often defends his Hanafi school of thought and refutes those who disagree with it. He rarely mentions Isra'iliyyat (narratives of Jewish origin), and when he does, he examines them and then rejects them.
The book is of medium size, easy to handle, widely circulated, popular among people, and was decided to be taught in Al-Azhar and Sharia schools for several years.
