But despite my loneliness and my petrified relationship with the people closest to me, I considered the desire to die a relinquishment of a basic right to exist, a right I could cling to after it was taken from me against my will, against everything—my right to be a daughter, to have a mother like others. This book is a splittime novel. The first time period depicts the Lebanese Civil War, where the protagonist tries to remember her story with her mother, who left her to marry someone other than her father and settled in Japan, before returning back to Beirut. The second time period portrays the present, where the protagonist experiences romantic relationships with people involved in this war she curses. Inbetween, the mother is murdered, leaving behind a painting for her daughter, who became an artist just like her. Consequently, and through her search for the lost painting, the daughter is also searching for her mother's killer, after spending her childhood searching for her mother's affection when the latter was alive. The novel's strength lies in the plot, as the perpetrator remains unknown until the last pages.

You may return most new, unopened items within 14 days of delivery for a full refund. We'll also pay the return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error (you received an incorrect or defective item, etc.).
You should expect to receive your refund within two weeks of giving your package to the return shipper, however, in many cases you will receive a refund more quickly. This time period includes the transit time for us to receive your return from the shipper (2 to 4 business days), the time it takes us to process your return once we receive it (1 to 2 business days), and the time it takes your bank to process our refund request (2 to 4 business days).
If you need to return an item, simply send Email or contact us via WhatsApp number. We'll notify you via e-mail of your refund once we've received and processed the returned item.
