But despite my loneliness and my hardened relationship with those closest to me, I saw in death a liberation from a fundamental right to existence, a right that could be clung to even when it was forcibly taken from me, but also from everything: my right to be a daughter, to have a mother like everyone else. The first time period depicts the Lebanese Civil War, where the protagonist tries to remember her story with her mother, who left her to marry someone other than her father and settled in Japan, before returning to Beirut. The second time period depicts the present, where the protagonist has romantic relationships with people involved in this war she curses. From time to time, the mother is killed, leaving behind a painting for her daughter, who has become an artist like her. As a result, while searching for the missing painting, the daughter also seeks her mother's killer, having spent her childhood longing for her mother's affection. The novel's strength lies in its plot, where the culprit remains unknown until the very last pages.

You may return most new, unopened items within 14 days of delivery for a full refund. We'll also pay the return shipping costs if the return is a result of our error (you received an incorrect or defective item, etc.).
You should expect to receive your refund within two weeks of giving your package to the return shipper, however, in many cases you will receive a refund more quickly. This time period includes the transit time for us to receive your return from the shipper (2 to 4 business days), the time it takes us to process your return once we receive it (1 to 2 business days), and the time it takes your bank to process our refund request (2 to 4 business days).
If you need to return an item, simply send Email or contact us via WhatsApp number. We'll notify you via e-mail of your refund once we've received and processed the returned item.
