The Faculty of Education, 1968. The students of Lebanon had never known such a time before, yet they certainly felt it. There was ample opportunity for leisure, for forming relationships with girls, and for discussing politics and expressing opinions freely. Everyone played, even in what would later become known as the dangerous arena. The chaos was creeping in, initially subtle, like when a bullet grazed Abdul Hadi's cheek but didn't kill him. And I say frankly, there were times when students began to question whether they had any stake in the demonstrations and associations, and whether they were complicit in the chaos of which they had become victims. The Faculty of Education, 1968. The students didn't know they were living in what would later be called the era of beautiful Lebanon, but they must have felt it. At that time, there was room for leisure, for forming relationships with girls, for discussing politics, and for expressing opinions freely. Everyone played, even in what would later become known as the dangerous arena. The destruction approached gradually, initially as light as a bullet that grazed Abdul Hadi's cheek and didn't kill him, then it overwhelmed him. These students sometimes wondered if their cheerful participation in protests and public gatherings made them complicit in the destruction of which they were victims.
