The Lebanese writer, philosopher, poet, and painter (1883-1931) who rose from the remote town of Bsharri to international acclaim, began, through his prolific output, to enrich not only the Arab world but also the global literary canon, with books that have entered history as classics of comprehensive literary heritage. Nawfal published the complete Arabic translations of Gibran Khalil Gibran's works, including "The Madman," "The Forerunner," "Sand and Foam," "Jesus, Son of Man," "The Earth Gods," "The Wanderer," "The Garden of the Prophet," and the widely circulated book "The Prophet," as well as parts of two plays: "The Blind Man" and "Lazarus and His Beloved." In this new translation, Dr. Nadim Na'imah undertook the task of giving the Arabic-speaking reader their due in the works of Gibran, as revealed in his foreign texts. He refused to simply translate "the Gibran face in all its features, the face that gazed upon the outside world, and for which he embraced that world, brought it into his life, and loved it," as he explains in his book, Al-Mutma'innah. In addition to this unique translation, which undoubtedly enriches the Arabic library, this deluxe edition features comprehensive illustrations of all the texts, presented in their original form, in full color, and of high quality.
