A fleeting journey into the world of music, humanity's companion since the dawn of time, and a concise exploration of its secrets. In this book, Gibran doesn't present a scholarly study of the history and origins of music in the abstract, but rather its impact on expression, tracing its role in human life and its influence on the human soul, as well as on his own. "Music" was Gibran's first publication, in New York in 1905. This booklet marked his initial foray into the world of writing, a significant step in his early career. Despite its title, this booklet doesn't delve into music as an existing art form with its own established principles and dimensions. Instead, it takes you into Gibran's inner world, revealing a beautiful, poetic marble—later described in Gibran's distinctive style—of how music, within the sensitive, poetic soul, transforms from a prisoner of the body to a winged force in the cosmos, from a captive of time to a glimpse into the realm of the absolute.
This booklet cannot be measured, except that it was like the two lines of the river for the waterwheel; traditionally, in depth, in force, in roar, and so on, and all of that in terms of the essence of the existence of the river and the waterwheel, both of which are flowing water.
