The novel unfolds during the Syrian revolution/war, telling three stories of three protagonists in their youth, specifically at the beginning of the events. These stories are linked by a subtle, almost invisible thread, revealed to the reader only at the end. The author suggests two types of conflicts. The first depicts generational struggles between fathers and sons, or mothers as in the first story, implying that rebellion against the past begins within the inner circle—the family—before extending to the outer circles, where we encounter the second type of conflict: the Syrian people taking to the streets in protest.
