In the 14th century, Yaqub becomes Chief Justice of the evil Mansa kingdom, but he remains an enigmatic elder. He awakens to his former self when love comes to him, and he comes to kill it, after a grueling journey, tested in spectacular fashion, in the blazing desert. During these years, he is bewitched by Mermaid, but he still yearns for his angel. Wandering through events that shape the historical society of North and Central Africa, the Idia, he returns home with a weary body and a heart burdened by the violence of the tribes and the conflict that follows, and he does not return victorious.
All of this is from the distant past, but in the present, it enters the realm of legitimacy between ancient states, predating their statehood, thus charting a historical agreement between wandering caravans in the Western Sahara. In this way, a shared history intersects between three countries today: Egypt, with its great Al-Azhar legacy; Morocco, a giant witness to the Sahara; and Mali, whose judiciary's survival played a role in reclaiming this history, especially since the story began when an English journalist started helping his Malian friend salvage what he could from the incursions of ISIS militants. In the 14th century, Yaqub became the chief judge of the powerful Mansa kingdom, but he remained an enigmatic figure. His conscience awakens when he is found by Habab, who came to kill him in the first place, after a grueling five-year journey through the scorching desert. During these years, Yaqub was captivated by the Marmada, but he remained longing for his wife. After a long journey, during which he experiences events that collectively form the history of North and Central Africa, he returns to his homeland with a weary body and a heart burdened by tribal violence and conflicts, and he does not return victorious.
All of this is from the distant past, yet it is powerfully present in our time. The novel's chapters define the relationships between ancient states before they became nation-states, and depict the historical connections between caravans roaming the African desert. Therefore, these relationships intersect in a tightly woven historical narrative between three existing countries: Egypt, with its unique Al-Azhar heritage; Morocco, with its vast Sahara Desert; and the ancient ruins of Mali, whose continued existence plays a significant role in revisiting this history, especially as the story begins when an English journalist decides to help his Malian friend salvage what remains of ISIS's conquests.
