Women among the ancient Greeks were deprived of freedom and status in everything related to legal rights. They were located in large houses, separated from the road, with few windows and guarded doors. The clubs of the courtesans became famous in the Greek cities, due to the neglect of wives and mothers of the house, and the rarity of allowing them to accompany men in clubs and polite gatherings. The councils of philosophers were devoid of women, and no prominent woman became famous among them, besides the famous courtesans or free concubines.
